12 Apps of Christmas

Are you an organised student?  Or do you have hand written class notes buried in the depths of your bag, files saved all over your laptop and tablet and photos of white boards on your phone?

Well there may be some relief for you this month.

If you sign up to the 12 Apps of Christmas you can 'unwrap' 12 tools to help you individually tailor all this different information to make best use of it all.

The apps are available to unwrap on the 12 working days (Mon-Fri) between now and Christmas, indeed we are a little late as it is already day 2 of the project.  So register now and start to get organised for the new year.

I am delighted to say that there’s a new web page to highlight the fiction promotional activities being run at Bedford Library and Luton LRC.  http://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/whoweare/refreshers-week

We recognise the benefit of reading for pleasure and are giving away 2nd books here in the Library today (Thursday 12th Nov) 2-4pm or until the books run out.

The effects are beginning to be felt.

So after I thought it had all gone a bit quiet the Volkswagen scandal hits the headlines again today.  Below is a link to a discussion on whether the expected fall in VW car sales is affecting other brands or whether this is a general leveling off at an industry wide level. For those looking into it for assignments and dissertations this piece is good as it also gives links to other stories on the topic which give a good background (and forecast) of what has happened at VW.

Welcome to all Accounting and Finance students.

Welcome to all our new first years and welcome back to our returning students.

Once you have made it through Fresher's and Welcome Week you might want to turn your attention to working out what you are going to need to read during your studies.  Within each of your BREO units there will be a link to a reading list and on the list will be links to any electronic material we have as well as catalogue information for physical copies held in the library..

You can also sign into the Readinglist page (shown above) and start collecting your own lists of useful reading items from the catalogue or DISCOVER.  If you would like more information on how to do this please contact me.

Also, don't forget reading can be fun too and is good for you.  Check out our fiction titles if you fancy a break from time to time.

There are 33000 ebooks up for grabs!

These cover all subject areas taught by the University but there are significant amount on Accounting and its different areas.

All you have to do is search for them using the Library Catalogue, follow the links through and click on the Preview button.

Any ebook provided by Askews and Holts Library Service is eligible to be purchased.  You can find this out by scrolling to the bottom of the catalogue record to see who provides which books.

Once you have clicked on the library catalogue link, click on the Preview button to access the ebook.

The first two 'hits' on a book are classed as rentals, once the third person uses the book it will be automatically purchased for future use by the library.

So happy shopping and happy reading!

Happy New Year to you all.

This is just a quick post to let you know that I have been able to arrange office hours within the Accounting department office.  So if you would like to drop by and see me I will be in the room behind the reception desk in the HM office between 10am-12pm every Thursday.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all.
